Multi-Room Audio
Whether you are entertaining guests or simply relaxing around the house, a multi-room audio system allows your music to follow the action. Your home can be fully wired for audio, indoors and out, allowing you to choose from a variety of audio sources to be played simultaneously throughout your home. Speakers may be free standing or installed—even painted over—into your ceilings or walls to create a virtually invisible sound source. We can even install a stereo speaker overhead in your shower!
A typical house audio setup will have all componentry in a single location in the home—most often placed in a rack in a utility room or nearby the home theater, or fitted into a cabinet in a central location media area. Wire is pulled from this location to other rooms in the home, where the audio will usually be controlled by a volume control or keypad. Many touch-screen keypads allow you to toggle through available audio sources and select songs to add to your playlist; volume controls will allow you to adjust the volume in a given room but not change the source or select specific music. This would have to be done from the main location or a nearby television, if you so choose. Ultimately, you will have a number of options to choose from which will allow you various levels of control.
Distributed Video
Many homes these days contain multiple digital cable boxes, DVRs, TiVo boxes, etc. Maybe you even have or want one for each person in the home so they can record and watch all their shows on their own box. In these situations, having a distributed video system is a must. This way, any recorded shows can be viewed from any box on any television at any time in the home.
Additionally, a distributed video system will allow other types of video to be routed to each television as well. This could include HD sources such as Blu-ray, closed circuit sources such as a front-door security camera, or stored video from a media server.
Distributed video systems are usually centralized with all the components held in a rack or hidden away in a cabinet. Wire is then ran to all necessary television locations from this central location.
